SNAP of Tennessee Breach of Policy of Memphis Diocese

During the weekend of August 6th and 7th, SNAP of Tennessee will initiate a press conference and other public activites to alert the Memphis community to the breach of its own policy on clergy sexual abuse.

The victim:  A Memphis man who alleges abuse which began when he was 16.
The priest:  Father William Kantner
  • When were allegations brought forward?  During the year 2002.
  • Click here and see documentation of when the Memphis Catholic diocese was alerted to the abuse.

For two years, William Kantner was assigned to St. Peter Villa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.  During this time, Kantner lived on Idlewild Terrace.  We believe this is negligence on the part of the diocese.  Instead of alerting law enforcement, the Catholic diocese undertook its own investigation.  Do you want a church community taking on the role of the police?  Do you want children, teens, and vulnerable adults to be exposed to a person with sex abuse allegations while a church review board passes judgement?
