Communication From SNAP - 04-06-2026
Letter from Shaun Dougherty, president of SNAP Board of Directors, on 04-06-2026
This is the first message to the SNAP community from the president of SNAP’s Board of Directors since the resignations. On March 23, 2026, 27 leaders and members resigned in a joint letter. Those former members formed the Abuse Survivors Coalition, which is growing and thriving. After 18 months of trying to engage the Board in meaningful discussion, we left SNAP. Since then, the Board and SNAP’s Executive Director have continued to misrepresent what happened. We’re sharing the facts to set the record straight—please read on.
What Shaun Dougherty wrote . . .
At the same time, I owe it to this community to be transparent. The Board, our Executive Director and I made every effort to find common ground. We did not refuse to meet, despite what has been reported. There were several attempts at mediation and facilitated dialogue. We showed up each time in good faith, committed to resolving differences and moving forward together. Despite those efforts, we were not able to reach a path forward.
